Something happens Not the way you want Maybe it's your fault Maybe it's not But it's gone forever There's nothing you can do Call up your friends Who can root for you Me, I've got an instrument or two I'll write a song about it I've been able to be true And for the moment things are OK The way some things work out Can cause you a bit of pain You can take some time Some time to go insane Are the chords too simple? The words too direct? Nah, how do you put limitations on how you feel? Well, writing this song won't send me back in time And I might be sad again when it ends But for 4 minutes and 7 seconds I get past it for a little That's far away now That's far away That's far away now And I love you, guitar, but there's only so much you can do
2.
Fell into the lake Is anybody out there? I don't see any help And I'm not sure it'll ever get here People walk around Unaware of my position They don't see my situation In my state of desperation You, you cannot, you cannot let go the memories But you can, oh you can, reach down and bring them back Now, don't forget, even though nothing will happen But you can't, oh you can't, let them get lost in the past I miss everyone And everything I've ever done And everything I've ever felt And everywhere that I have ever been to Just let it be gone Everyone else seems to do it Why can they just do it? Are they not scared to lose it? Hey, above the clouds there's always sun You'll see it all one day You will find out that once it goes Away you'll be OK To let it go and all those thoughts Were never meant to stay So let it go and slow it down For your own sake

It's just another day My brother's here to stay I'll play the guitar Do you like this song so far? When things get tough I'll call your bluff I'll come through for you Figure out what to do You are lost and you are found I'm just glad you're around
4.
On the bench and so are you Feet are tired, but we gotta skate through Are we gonna make it to the other side? It's a long change, but the game is on the line
5.
Standing in the subway car Everyone's got a hand to hold My right hand's collecting germs On a pole that's old and very cold It's nights like these I think of you Wherever you are and whatever you do If you come back, it was meant to be But if you don't, it's all the same to me I try to hold off my rage I clap, snap, hand in the pocket Clench my teeth, breathe through my nose Crack my knuckles and cross my toes It's about time I've met someone else I wanna ask someone out on a date It's been two weeks since I've gotten my Haircut and it looks great Kindle the fire and light the balloon Most things seem to end too soon If you'll come back, please let me know But if you won't, then I've let it go If two doors lead to the prize And one's slammed shut and one's cracked open Should you go the way you came in If there's only a slim chance you'll win? Going to sleep with 64 gigabytes on my chest Unaware all its contents had just been repossessed You can try to alleviate all your concerns But after the rainbow, the rain always returns
6.
I want to be with you but not forever, just not forever Oh no, I want to be with you... but not forever, no, not forever Oh no, I want to be with you... but not forever, just not forever Oh no, I want to be with you... but not forever, just not forever I have to be true to you - this is not forever, this is not forever Oh no, I have to be true to you - this is not forever, this is not forever Oh no, I have to be true to you - this is not forever, this is not forever Oh no, I have to be true to you - this is not forever, this is not forever Oh no no... oh no... oh no, no, no no no no! You are not the one! You are not the one, no no no! You are not the one! You are not the one! Go! Doo doo doo.... You're not the one! You're not the one! No... you're not the one! You're not the the one You're not the one! No, you're not the one! You're not the one! You're not the one No, you're not the one No, you're not the one You're not the one No, you're not the one, oh no
7.
I wanna be with you now But I don't wanna be with you forever I'm sorry you'll have to come to realize I can do better Start to think of the end before the beginning happens In which direction is the safest way out? It's a maze I won't get trapped in My strategy is not to say or let on to what I'm thinking But let you smile at me while we sit here eating and drinking We could get out of here, maybe have some fun I'll walk away and quickly stop and then it will be done
8.
You are not going to believe me even if I told you what I knew You are not going to forgive me even if I beg you 'til I'm blue You are not going to release me even if I beg you 'til I'm blue

I went down to Mississippi With just my brother in tow It was a place I didn't think of It was a place I didn't know We first stopped in New Orleans Saw some friends along the way Walked up and down Saint Charles Hoping the rain would go away Will the streetcar ever come? Did that hand grenade have rum? We sipped on Bourbon and ate beignets Down to the last crumb America the free America the brave Saw the flying of Confederate flags And the men who put 'em in their graves Now, the big city's alright for me But I miss Mississippi sometimes Crossed the border Into the state of which we speak For maybe just a day or two But we probably could've stayed the week Our canopy was blue With specks of white painted on the scene We chugged along the highway Houses few and far between The Rebels won the game The Grove came into frame We spent all night with the fair-haired of the south Without a name When it was time to leave We packed our things and said goodbye And headed on to Memphis With a twinkle in our eye I miss Mississippi sometimes

Come on..... Did you get some sleep last night? Did you just lie in bed? Did you go out and party? Did you hang out with friends? What are you doing now? Do you have any plans? Are you gonna get a job Or just sit on your hands? And you know I know you're just Trying to make some small-talk You might even have a Genuine interest in my life My future is up in the air Not quite sure what it's doing there The picture's clearing but the focus is blurred Please don't say another word Why don't you have a girlfriend? You should eat more vegetables Are you coming over tomorrow Before our friendship gets cold? You can't just sit and watch Seinfeld and sports all night ESPN will be here tomorrow And you still can't return a jacket for spite And you know I know it's a Tough job economy But I'm more than fairly certain You'll pull through one day soon My future is up in the air Not quite sure what it's doing there What's LinkedIn for if I get left out? Give me a connection, give me a shout My future's here but I'm not caught up I hear the second season kinda sucks I want a nice, shiny legacy As soon as I become an employee

How many times have I said 'see you soon?' How many times have I really meant it? I try, I'd like to think I try You fall out of touch and then it's too late Can't remember where you were on that date It's sad, man, sometimes it's just sad Wish I could take everyone I've known And everything I've ever done And throw 'em all on the shelf To take out for a little while When I want a reminder Or a quick little update I can't move on and I can't go back So I'm stuck here in the middle Ruining what I have Wanna make every moment last Somehow always goes too fast I know, yeah, come on, I know Put off whatever's next Make it count in the present tense And go slow, yeah, make it slow I can't move on and I can't go back So I'm stuck here in the middle Ruining what I have But how do you move on? You see yourself smiling in a picture and can barely remember yourself being there Trying in futility to hold it all together Like the flame of a candle fighting for its last breath We started out at 12 Went down and up again Without even being asked I miss everything
